CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS

Neck pain or cervical pain is one of the most common disorders that are caused by the modern life style.
Spondylosis is a Greek word meaning vertebrae spondylitis is inflammation of one or more vertebrae. It is a degeneration disorder of the cervical spine affecting intervertibral joints. Changes in vertebrae are due to repeated stress and strain to our spine
CAUSES
May be causes by many factors.
-Faulty posture.
-Lack of exercise.
-Prolonged working hours.
-Long driving.
-Cold weather.
-Wear and tear due to overuse and carrying weight.
The disc between the vertebrae becomes thin and weak and intervertebral space reduces. Sometimes the disc may even prolapsed outward and inwards, thus pressing our spinal nerve or even the cord.
Bony outgrowth may occur leading to pressure on nerves.
All these changes leads to various complaints like
Pain.
Tingling.
Numbness.
Vertigo (giddiness).
Neck balances the weight of our head, which is more than 3kg..The cervical vertebrae are the top seven vertebrae (C1 to C7 ) of the thirty-three vertebrae that form the spinal column or the backbone. The next twelve are the thoracic ( Chest ) vertebrae, and five are lumber vertebrae, below the lumber region is sacrum with five and at the tail there is coccyx with four vertebrae.
The nerves from our neck bones are connected to the skin like this.
C1 Back of head.
C2 Back of head and neck
C3 Upper part of the neck
C4 Upper shoulder and collarbones
C5 Middle part of the shoulder
C6 Arms and hand to thumb and index finger
C7 Forearm and third finger
SYMPTOMS

Stiffness in the nape of neck agg in the morning
Radiation to shoulder region , may reach the fingers
Numbness or tingling sensation in hands
Vertigo, giddiness < on turning the head
SIGN
-Mild tenderness in the post muscles of the neck
-Movements of the neck restricted due to spasm and rigidity of the cervical muscles
-Crepitation are audible on neck movements
-Muscular weakness wasting muscles
-Paraplegia
TREATMENT
Treatment in homoeopathy is individualized and constitutional for which proper case taking is essential. But there are certain specific homoeopathic remedies, which have proved beneficial in eradicating the cervical spondylosis, stopping the recurrence by curing the disease. The treatment in cervical spondylosis depends upon the extent of damage.
